A lounge-y Labor Day weekend with friends, a few tasty drinks, a little trashy reading and then blink – SUMMER. IS. OVER.

September always has me considering my wardrobe.

It makes sense – from a very young age, my sisters and I would dog-ear the pages of the Sears-Roebuck catalog to mark our must-haves for the season. As you can see, my sister Jill and I were very on trend for 1970. I’m on the left – I know, I know. What can I say?

But times have-a-changed, and now I bookmark at stylebop.com, refinery29.com, net-a-porter.com and the like. You might be surprised to learn that Fashion Week Spring 2012 begins tomorrow.  Yes, I said spring.  So before we all totally miss the fashion boat -  quick - here are a few fall trends to consider when you hit the stores in September.

It’s pretty obvious I learned early in life that style is confidence - so I say, just own it.

Happy shopping.

VIBRANT-SUPER-SATURATED COLOR.  Go over-the-top in this notice-me Paul & Joe outfit.  Or really, just go no-fuss and pair this orange velvet J Crew schoolboy blazer with jeans.

1970s GROOVY VIBE.  Sport this ultra-glam Gucci getup – okay kidding.  Instead, buy a pair of these J Brand flared corduroys and pair with a floppy-bow blouse or sleek turtleneck.

PRAIRIE UTILI-BOOTIE.  Get sassy with this Belle by Sigerson Morrison bootie or simply slip on the Neruda platform from Coclico.
